KijijiChamama is your gateway to discovering the undiscovered
The tour is designed to showcase the cultural lifestyle of the Maasai community in the western plains and the wildlife conservation areas (WMAs). The region is characterized by savannah landscapes and is very hot during the day, with acacia vegetation and open spaces that support a remarkable variety of wildlife, including African elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, impalas, and gazelles. It also offers a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro from the western side.
This plain lies along the elephant corridor used for migration between Kilimanjaro National Park and Arusha National Park in Tanzania, as well as Amboseli National Park in Kenya. The area is home to the Maasai people, who have coexisted with wildlife for generations. Known for preserving their cultural heritage, the Maasai are one of the few tribes in East Africa who maintain their traditional lifestyle despite modern technological advancements.
Cycling in this region is ideal for travelers seeking an unforgettable off-the-beaten-path adventure, offering a unique blend of walking, cultural immersion, photography, and breathtaking scenery.

After breakfast, you will continue your cycling journey toward Ngabobo Village. An early start is recommended to avoid the midday heat and to enjoy the best wildlife viewing opportunities. Along the way, you may spot elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas, and elands grazing in the open plains. The route is relatively short but presents a challenge due to the rough terrain and warm weather. The final section involves a gradual uphill climb on a gravel road as you approach Ngabobo Village, where you will stay overnight. The total distance cycled is approximately 21 km.
After breakfast, your cycling adventure continues with a gradual ascent as you leave Ngabobo Village and head toward Momella, located near Arusha National Park. As you cycle, the environment transitions from arid plains to lush, green slopes at the base of Mount Meru. Along the way, you will pass by streams flowing down from Arusha National Park and may have the opportunity to spot wildlife along the park’s border. As you approach Momella Gate, your cycling journey comes to an end. You will stop for lunch before driving approximately 56 km back to Moshi or Arusha. The total distance cycled is approximately 22 km.
On your final day, you will prepare for your next destination. Depending on your plans, you may continue your safari adventure, fly to Zanzibar, or return home. Our team will provide a vehicle to transfer you to the airport at your preferred time, ensuring a smooth and comfortable departure.
